An original song inspired by the ¨Wheel of Time¨ book series
“Life is a dream” is an Aiel dirge for the dead. The song is a haunting melody that the Aiel sing after Dumai’s Wells. It´s included in the “Wheel of Time” book series and the lyrics are written by Robert Jordan himself. In the last weeks I was preparing one of the songs from the Wheel of Time TV show in collaboration with other WoT creators, but the project is still in progress. In the meantime I just wanted to write an original song… so I opened the WoT Wiki and found these beautiful lyrics. I tried also to sing in 2 voices this time, this is not so easy to record and after various attempts I figured out the way to do it…
I´m not sure how other people do it, but I first record the second voice, and after that I record the main melody, listening to the second voice. I hope to be able to make better recordings in the future, as for now I can only record in my bedroom and most of the times I have to deal with barking dogs, passing cars, etc… Also in the last month I´m not feeling at my best as the weather is always changing and it´s affecting my health. But I just needed to share this song with all of you… I hope you like it.
The video footage I used is from a rock desert, I wanted to show the Aiel waste from the books and I think the visuals and the lyrics are a perfect match.
