Original songs inspired by the “Wheel of Time” book series

“Midean’s Ford” is my first attempt to write a song and also to sing it by myself. I actually sing in a choir from many years, but in a different way, so here you’ll hear me sing the way I like to do it at home when I’m alone 🙂 This song is included in the “Wheel of Time” book series and the lyrics are written by Robert Jordan himself. There is another music version of this song already on YouTube, but I just wanted to try and write my own version as a test.

Medean’s Ford
Lyrics:

Soft, the winds, like springtime’s fingers.
Soft, the rains, like heaven’s tears.
Soft, the years roll by in gladness,
never hinting storms to come,
never hinting whirlwinds’ ravage,
rain of steel and battle thunder,
war to tear the heart asunder.

…Back across the blood-red water,
marching back with heads held high.
No surrender, arm or sword,
no surrender, heart or soul.
Honor be theirs, ever after,
honor all the Age shall know.

The Flame of Tar Valon – Wheel of Time song by Stellaria & Carolina Damodred (piccolo and harp)

“The Flame of Tar Valon” is our first attempt to write an original song. I also sing it by myself (Note: I’m not a professional singer!) . As I’m not a native English speaker, I’ve created this project in collaboration with Carolina Damodred – a fan from the WoT community. She’s writing poetry inspired by the Wheel of Time and many other things. Check her Instagram account: https://www.instagram.com/caro_jean_/ We didn’t have any particular idea for a theme, so I decided to ask the fans what they would like us to write. Actually we’ve gathered a lot of ideas. Carolina choose this theme from the list to be the first one.

Lyrics:

The sky burned crimson and white
Earth and air turning to the dark
She felt the diminishing light
Weaves filled her, finding their mark

Her body the torch in the night
Blue and blazing she took her love
Screaming down the world in sight
With creation’s power she struck from above

The dark saw death in colors
A woman saving her sisters and brothers
Her body crystalline as the ground heals
The Watcher of the Seals
Singing a last miraculous song
The Flame of Tar Valon,
Her weaves, and her life complete
She’s Egwene Al’Vere – The Amyrlin Seat.
